Unlocking Potential: The Stand Tall Way

The Stand Tall Community Trust, established in 2022 in Tauranga, is dedicated to helping young people maximise their potential and build the future they want to see.

Our Purpose: We believe entrepreneurship and digital skills are key to unlocking potential, enhancing talents, and nurturing creativity. Entrepreneurial experiences provide essential skills like problem-solving, teamwork, project management, communication, and financial literacy. We're committed to ensuring every young person is prepared for the digital age, equipped with a mindset full of transferable skills and problem-solving abilities.

Increasing Access: Our goal is to improve access to entrepreneurship for all young people. YES (Young Enterprise Scheme) is our largest programme and it helps over 250 Year 12 and 13 teens studying Business Studies annually.  Stand Tall is the YES Regional Partner and we organise events, support challenge completion, secure funding, and connect students with mentors. The YES programme is a competition where top-performing teams advance to regional and national finals. While YES is impactful, its demographics are limited. YES is just one part of our broader mission to reach more young people through entrepreneurship education.

Expanding Our Reach: Many young people miss out on developing practical entrepreneurial and digital skills. We aim to democratise access to these skills by working at the intersection of education and innovation. Over the past 18 months, we've found that our systems approach and focus on relationships can address disengagement with traditional education, a global issue affecting prosperity. We've also found that we are shining a light on options and opportunities that rangatahi don't readily have access to.

Our Collaborative Approach: We partner with diverse organisations to deliver tailored entrepreneurial experiences. We've collaborated with Colab in Te Puke, Aquinas College Gateway Programme, Tauranga Moana Attendance Services and Tauranga Girls’ and Boys’ College, Te Puke High School STEM careers, the Canvas Careers Expo, and the Welcoming Communities Global Ambassadors program. We also partner with Toi Kai Rawa’s Hiki Te Rawa Auaha initiative and BOP Youth Development Trust’s Te Ara Kaha program. We believe we can all work together to achieve a collective goal: connected, purposeful, well and engaged creative young people.

Join Us: Our journey involves engaging with diverse young people and adapting our frameworks to their needs. We’re learning with them and building a community of entrepreneurial young minds. As we create the environment for ‘sparks’, build meaningful relationships, and amplify good activities, we celebrate the power of collective influence. We are in it for the long term and know we will need more volunteers and supporters to help us make a difference.

If you work with young people seeking purpose or want to enhance their experiences with essential skills or have some skills you want to offer, we want to hear from you!
